Happy Birthday Anna!

A little while ago, I shared a card that my eldest son made. Now it's the little guy's turn, he's five. Here is the card he made for his friend Anna whose Birthday was on Saturday! He really wanted to use my SU sprtizer tool on his card, but I think the thing that impressed me most was the "frame" that he drew around his image! He also had fun decorating the inside with a variety of stars and other small diecuts I had laying arouond.

And, this one is just another Birthday card I put together when I was on my boy card kick but hadn't shared yet. You will recall seeing others using the same SU set. This set is just so much fun for boys, not to mention quick and easy as there is no coloring involved! Would you believe that that ribbon came from OLD NAVY!?! I found it one day in a clearance bin near the check outs - what a find!
I hope you are all having a great week so far! As predicted, mine got off to a rough start - though I did not predict illness specifically - my little guy woke up at 2:30 am Monday "choking" (his word for ummm, throwing up - sorry, trying not to be too graphic!) and continued throughout the night. Needless to say, nobody got a lot of sleep, but I gotta say he is a fantastic sick kid! He got up countless times, took care business, washed his hands and headed back to bed - we would stumble out of the bedroom at some point during his episode and ensure that he made it where he needed to be, but he was so self-sufficient that hubby and I are pretty sure that at least once during the night he managed by himself and didn't even call for us! What a kid! Anyhow, by yesterday afternoon, he was looking much better and went to daycare as usual today. Hubby and I did the "juggle" as we call it, each going to work part of the day - I managed most of my day from home via phone or on the computer, so we managed to make the best of it. Hmmm, do you think if I start saying "I LOVE Mondays" maybe I won't dread them so much?!?!
Hope to be back with a new card soon, we'll see how it goes...
Shanna :)

Happy Easter!

Happy Monday - well hmmm, is it a happy Monday? I have been dreading today all weekend as I have a really busy work-week ahead and am still trying to catch up on things I didn't get finished last week. Although I'm looking forward to the long Easter weekend, when I'm this far behind it makes things stressful as I tried to pick up the pace just to try to keep my head above water. Anyhow, hoping I'll feel better as the week progresses and I cross a few more things off of the big list! Here are a couple of cards I put together quite quickly to supplement the Easter cards stash as I didn't have quite enough to send out. These fantastic papers are from the exclusive We R Memory Keepers collection available only at participating stores and not available at the big box stores. I picked mine up at my LSS, DAT'S. The newest line out this month (I forget the name of it) is just gorgeous!

I just love all those bright colors! I had a hard time with this one as it just seemed too simple, I didn't even have to stamp a sentiment! I was thrilled when I realized that these puffy stickers which have been in my stash for literally years matched the paper! I used up a bunch of these on the outside where I might normally put brads and on the inside with the sentiment as well!

I am entering my card at Aimee's Challenge Blog where they are looking for an Easter card.

Hope you have a great week!
Shanna :)

What I used:

stamps: Hero Arts
papers: We R Memory Keepers, CTMH Hollyhock & Indian Corn Blue
embellishments: Bo Bunny ribbon, misc stickers
tools: SU border punch

Paper Sundaes Week #11 Photo Inspiration Challenge

Happy Sundae! Thanks for stopping by and thank you for all your encouraging comments on my last post. I am really going to try to find some mojo for layouts - I have so many fun photos just waiting to find their permanent home on a page.....I've been working on building up my stash of cards so that I can carve out some time to do a few layouts. We'll see how it goes...

This week's challenge at Paper Sundaes is a Photo Inspiration challenge and I just love this photos that was chosen to inspire us! Our sponsor this week is Jenny from Paper Jewels and this week's winner will recieve 2 Sweet Pea stamps. Jenny also carries the adorable Bildmalarna stamps - if you haven't seen these, go check them out, just adorable!

Though I love this photo and find the Sweet Peas beautiful, I have to confess that I had a hard time with this challenge. These images are new to me and of a different style than my usual and I had some trouble matching papers to the copics that I had that matched the colors in the inspiration photo. Or maybe my mojo just took a hike....

In any case, I did enjoy stamping the background for this one (a little difficult to see) and then covering the background panels with a layer of Irridescent glimmer mist - this stuff is so fun! I didn't add a sentiment as I didn't want to distract from the image.

Hope you can join us and play along this week. Be sure to visit my fellow DT members - they have made some truly gorgeous cards showcasing a variety of Sweet Pea images.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Shanna :)

What I used:
stamps: Sweet Pea image from, Spot on Backgrounds (CTMH) papers: CTMH buttercup, Bo Bunny purple dot, Basic greyembellishments: SU ribbon, Iridescent Gold Glimmer Mist (Tattered Angels), e. pearls from Prima

This is what Brothers are for....

This is the layout I managed to get together this past weekend while my boys were away. It was inspired by the song "Brothers" by Dean Brody. If you are a country music fan, you will know this song. It is such a beautiful song and I was priviledged enough to see it performed live in November when Dean Brody opened for Terri Clark! It is such a moving song - it brought tears to my eyes. So, when I was organizing photos that I had printed, this song popped into my head when I saw this shot of my boys - big brother helping his little brother out with his buttons while waiting for the bus. I am so happy I managed to catch it on camera!
This layout was also inspired by the layout over at Sketchy Thursdays - it is a fun sketch but I don't know if I followed it closely enough - we'll see what they think...
I hope you are all having a great week! Mine started out a bit rough - after a fantastic, fun, relaxing weekend doing as I pleased, I must admit it was a bit of a shock to the system gettting back to reality - that is always the hard part! Such is life - I seem to be getting back into the swing of things now and we are already at "hump day!"
Cheers,
Shanna

Deck the Halls & an announcement!

You may or may not know that I have been doing my best to keep up with Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge for a year or so now. It was so nice to be ahead of the game when December rolled around!

Well, my big announcement is.....Sparkle has decided to introduce a design team for her Christmas Card Challenge and I get to be on it! I am so thrilled to be involved - Sparkle's blog is one of the first blogs I ever started following and it is so cool to be part of her DT! Thanks for the opportunity Sparkle! If you don't know about the weekly challenge, you can check it out here! Sure hope you will join us - trust me, you will be so happy that you did come December! :)

Although we don't officially start until April, I wanted to combine my announcement with a card for this week's challenge - to focus on your favorite part about the holidays! You can also check out the bios of the design team on this week's post! If you would like to visit the other gals on the DT, click on over -these talentd ladies are: Alanna, Steph and Peggy. One of my favorite parts is decorating - so these papers and this sentiment fit the bill perfectly!

Well, my boys have arrived home safe & sound from their trip. We are working on getting back into the swing of things....the good part is that my youngest is excited to go back to school and was disappointed that it was only daycare today! That's my boy! I hope you are all having a great week!

Cheers,

Shanna :)

Paper Sundaes Challenge #10 - Paper Piecing

Happy Sundae! So glad you stopped by. I hope you will join us for this week's challenge at Paper Sundaes - paper piecing. Paper piecing is so fun, I really should do it more often! Head to your craft room and get crafting - this week you could win a great prize from Simon Says Stamp! And don't forget to visit my fellow DT members to check out the fabulous creations - their links are on my sidebar.

I have to say that I love how this cutie turned out and the papers I used were in my scrap bin! :) I love using CTMH's textured paper as it has a white core that shows through when you sand it which is what I did to the scalloped oval.
I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Friday Sketchers - sketch - LOVE this one, will be using it again for sure!
Stamp Something - distressing
KLSNS - use a flower & stitching

I apologize for the second photo in particular - since hubby is out of town with the boys, he took my Canon and I was forced to use our little Sony. I cannot believe that I was actually able to take decent photos with that thing, I am having such a hard time now!!! Oh well, it did the trick in a pinch!

I went ahead and finished the inside. You will notice I didn't put a sentiment on the front - well it just didn't look right anywhere. I will either use it as a notecard or convert it later by placing a sentiment on the inside.

I hope you are having a fantastic weekend! I sure am - I have been enjoying my quiet, clean house and being able to go to and fro whenever I please - such a treat! - makes me think of my University days, or more accurately those few years between University and children, lol! I do miss them a little, but for now I am going to enjoy my solitude just a little longer....

Enjoy your Sunday!
Hugs,
Shanna :)

A layout and a card...

Happy Friday! Today I am sharing a layout I made awhile back - I have a really difficult time photographing layouts, but hopefully you can get the idea... if you have any tips for me, please share!

The journalling is partly hidden - I took it out just to demonstrate.
I had a fun time using my stitching templates on this one along with this fantastic Bo Bunny paper and rub-ons!

And here is the card my 7 year old made for his friend's birthday. He said "Mom, I want to color the picture and you make it into a card okay?" Sounded good to me! I kept it fairly basic, but didn't it turn out fun? He will be so excited to see that I posted it....

Of course, I just couldn't resist adding stickles...
Happy Friday everyone! Once I finish my walk on the treadmill, I am hitting the shower and then spending the rest of the day in my scrap room! I managed to take care of lots of cleaning/tidying/paperwork and even prepped most of my upcoming April class yesterday afternoon and last night - so now I get to have some fun! Woo hooo!
P.s. You still have time to play along at Paper Sundaes - this week's Challenge is to make a Mulit-fold card with an Easter or spring theme.
What I used:

papers: Bo Bunny
stamp: CTMH -I think it is from Playful Flourishes

Never more than a thought away....

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I've been somewhat mia for a couple of days as the weather continued to be gorgeous here (plus 15 celsius!) and it is March break and we had a fundraiser at work today/tonight and I am packing my hubby and boys off to the Big Nickel to visit with family for along weekend! Will I miss them - ummm, the correct answer is yes..........but you know, I can already feel the quiet starting to descend.........and ummm, I really like it. My hubby works mostly evenings and weekends and often in the daytime too - so it is often just me and the boys - so, this is some much sought after quiet time for moi and I'm not ashamed to say I am going to take full advantage! Having said that, I do have to do some paperwork relating to taxes and the family business which is always fun of course, but I figure I have three full days plus a half day tomorrow - so if I spend maybe 60-90 mins each day, that oughta do it and the rest can be PLAYTIME!

Okay, so I meant for this to be quick as there is still laundry and packing to finish - I guess I am a little geared up for the coming weekend!

The sketch is from Friday Sketchers and I did make a similar card a few weeks back. I decided to continue the stitching on the inside too. I really enjoyed working with these colors. I am entering this one in the challenge at Quirky Crafters - they are looking for buttons!

Last but not least, I have some exciting news to share, but I have to wait a few more days.....I will keep you posted!
Thanks for stopping by,
Shanna :)

My April Card Class - Boys are Sew Much Fun!

As I mentioned last weekend, I have been asked to be a "guest instructor" at DAT'S in the month of April. I used to teach there regularly, but I started finding it too much to handle with juggling my travel for work and the family business, so it's been awhile since I actually taught a class and I am really looking forward to it!

Here are the details:

Wednesday, April 21st at DAT'S
7:00 pm Cost $12.00

You will make the two cards pictured in this post.

PLEASE NOTE - THIS CLASS IS NOW FULL - THANK YOU to those who signed up!
See you on the 21st!

And here are the cards that I created for the class - the first is a Shaker Card. I will admit that I have only ever made one other, simply because I am too lazy - there I said it and it's true! However, I am glad for the class as it motivated me to make one - they are so worth the effort, don't you think?

I took a close-up in hopes that you could get a good look at the shaker bit. I reused some packaging to make this shaker, so my card qualifies for the challenge this week at Raise the Bar - which is Go Green! They have indicated that you can interpret it in a few different ways - although there is no green on my card, I reused my sticker packaging.

Because my card is geared for boys, I am also entering into the challenge at Crazy 4 Challenges - they are looking for masculine cards. It was fun to use those little balloons - I had seen this idea on a card in Paper Crafts (I think), literally years ago and had tried it back then and promptly forgot about it. I think these little ones make a great embellishment for boy cards, especially since I can't reach for a flower to finish it off - having these little balloons on hand just provides more options....

I am reposting my Changito Kick card that I posted last week so that people wanting to check out the post can find both cards in one place.
Hoping you had a fantastic weekend! We sure did, the weather was so far above normal - we are talking like 18 cel. - that we went to a different park each day and BBQd and ate dinner outdoors! I keep wanting to pinch myself since it is March and this weather feels more like May or June. We are in Northwestern Ontario after all - we had colder days last summer than the last few here! No joke! My house is rather a mess as a result of spending so much time outdoors, but isn't that what life is all about - Carpe Diem.........that is exactly what we did! The laundry and mess will still be there in the morning...
On that note, my bed is calling my name - all that fresh air & sunshine.....
Nighty night,
Shanna :)
What I used - Shaker Card:
Stamps: Image - Stamping Bella, sentiment - CTMH Dainty Thoughts
ink: Memento, Moonstruck
papers: Kaiser Craft - offshore collection, Coredinations Evening Sky
embellishments: Bella bling, misc ribbon, small balloons, machine stitching, 1/2 mm Glitter beads
tools: circle punch, EK Success edge punch, 3D dots (1/8 ")

Paper Sundaes - Multi-fold Easter/Spring Challenge

Happy Sundae everyone!

Thanks for stopping by! The challenge this week at Paper Sundaes is to make a mulit-fold card with an Easter Theme. There are so many fun versions of multi-fold cards out there - don't forget to visit the rest of the DT and check out the fantastic cards they've made! My contribution this week is a "match book" card, or actually two. My mojo sort of took a hike this past week, so I struggled a bit to get this one together and ended up making two, so I'm sharing both. Once again, I had trouble with my sentiment. I stamped it on the random stamped (tone on tone) background, but I wish it had shown up better, oh well. Let me know what you think....

Here is a close-up of the cutie patootie on my first card. I have had this Stampendous set forever and it had not seen ink. Well, I fixed that! How adorable are those bunny ears?! The set comes with numerous "hats" for the little one to wear along with some sentiments/words.

Here is my second card, this time using an image from Imaginsce for the focal point.

I was loving it until I got it all glued together and then decided the blue that I "pulled" in from the bit of blue in the patterned paper was a bit much in the ribbon. Oh well, what ya gonna do?

I am entering these in the challenge over at Sew Many Challenges, where they are looking for an Easter card. My second card also qualifies for the challenge over at Aimee's Challenge blog - Things with wings. I just discovered this blog, Aimee is a five-year old and she comes up with the challenges. They encourage children to play too!
Sure hope you can play along this week - we have a super cute Sugar Nellie stamp (Peek a Bunny) for the winner!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Shanna :)
What I used:
stamps: Imaginisce, CTMH, Stampendous
papers: Imaginisce
embellishments: Bo Bunny ribbon, misc ribbon & button, stickles, white opal liquid pearls, Think Pink Fun Flock
tools: copic markers, oval punches, EK success fastenater

Birthday Invite

Happy Saturday!

These are the birthday invites I made for my eldest who turns eight on Saturday! I cannot believe he is going to be eight! I had to make about twelve of these, so really had to try to keep it simple - which is often easier said than done. Once I got the basic design together, I just couldn't help but play with my Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist! My only regret is that I decided to distress all the edges - time consuming for twelve cards when you are on a deadline - and add to that, most of the recipients won't even notice, right!?! Oh, the things we do!

I have to admit I cheated sort of - this one in particular is for Danderella's daughter and so I added some black buttons because it just needed them. The others didn't get buttons because quite frankly, I know they will end up filed under "G"! Even if that is where is goes at Danderella's, it's okay because I know she will appreciate the buttons, lol!

This week's challenge at Crazy for Challenges is masculine, so I am entering this over there. Even though it's simple, it's definitely masculine. :)

On a side note - completely unrelated to papercrafting - so I don't mind if you stop reading here....however, if you are a Twilight/Rob Pattinson fan, please read....

I had a girl's night out last night! I met up with Danderella and another friend - we went out for appetizers and saw "Remember Me." Now, many of you know that I am a fan of Twilight - more so the books than the movie - but that doesn't mean I'm not looking forward to Eclipse coming out at the end of June! (Did you see that the trailer is out now....google it and it comes up right away!) So, Danderella and I were just a teensy, weensy bit curious if Rob Pattinson could, you know, play a non-vampire role. We have decided that he did a pretty good job of playing a human named Tyler (love the name) and "Remember Me" was a really good movie! I have to admit I was somewhat surprised as I had little in the way of expectations for this movie and didn't really know much about it before hand, but as many of you know, I am more of a reader anyhow. The movie had an awesome twist that totally blindsided me - we decided it might actually be fun to watch it again when it comes out on DVD as when we thought back to the beginning, there were lots of little things that might have tipped us off to the twist, but somehow we missed them..... Hmmm, was I, were we all a little distracted by Rob's "bedroom eyes"? Maybe so.... He is no Edward from the novel - the Edward in my head is way better - and I think he is too skinny, but let's face the truth, I sure didn't mind watching him and those eyes on the big screen for two whole hours! LOL!

Hope you have a fantastic day! Please share if you've seen "Remember Me" - I wanna know what you think......

Shanna :)

Celebrate

Time to celebrate! Isn't this little cutie just adorable? A simple card really, but I love how she looks all colored up to match this MME paper. I love her polka dot ribbons! I am entering this one in the challenge at Stamp Something this week where the theme is "girly". I think she is definitely girly! What do you think?
Hope you are having a great week! I am back from my trip, but rather tuckered. Trying to make this a quickie post as I spent my evening making Birthday invites for my eldest son so he can hand them out at school tomorrow - gotta get them delivered before March Break is in full swing! I will share them in a few days. They are done and my crafting space is a mess, but the mess can wait now that the invites are done! My bed is calling my name, rather loudly so I'm turning in,
Nighty night,
Shanna :)
What I used:
Stamps: Whiff of Joy, CTMH sentiment
papers: MME, CTMH blush
embellishments: SU ribbon, Kaiser pearls, SU scallop punch

EBTKS Challenge Challenge #10 - Fabric

I am cutting it close on this one! I was thrilled to hear that the challenge at Everything But the Kitchen Sink was fabric as I've been collecting different fun fabrics to use on my cards and layouts....however, I didn't get time until Sunday night to come up with a card. And, since I am out of town for work, I had to have the card completed, photographed and posted before I left early Monday. Needless to say, this was a quickie!

I am also entering this in the current challenge at KLSNS - to use buttons! I love buttons!

I'm not sure that I LOVE this card as I was feeling rushed when working on it and would have spent more time playing around if I'd had it (you know how you walk away for a bit, then come back, then you know if it is how it's meant to be...), but I do love the bright and cheery colors and it is always great to have another Birthday card in the stash.

Here's hoping you are having a great week!
Cheers,
Shanna :)

Way to Go!

Happy Monday! What a fantastic weekend we had here in Northwestern Ontario! Beautiful - I'm talking 12 degrees above zero - weather! The snow is melting like crazy and the ice is gone from the sidewalks! My boys were so thrilled to dig the bicycles out of the back of the garage and go for a spin. We spent a good part of the day outside taking in the fresh air and getting good and dirty! Oh yeah, lots of mud - with warmer weather comes mud. :)
I'm back to work today, on the road for a couple of days, but managed to schedule some posts. Isn't Changito just so cute? I have several of these cuties, but don't use them as often as I should. I admit that is partly because I've always had trouble coloring them well. I finally played around with Flower Soft - this one I just got from DAT'S and is the ultra-fine version. By the way, my stitching is crooked on purpose - just in case you were wondering! lol

This is one of the cards I will be doing for my class at DAT'S on April 21st. Since this is a somewhat generic card, I will provide a few different sentiments to use. One of the things that is so fun about acrylic stamps is how you can manipulate them into slightly different shapes. I managed to "curve" my sentiment enough to fit in my circle appropriately. I was so happy when I realized this was going to work as I was having a hard time figuring out where to place my sentiment. To be truthful, I often find that the hardest thing when creating cards. I seem to get everything else laid out and then - oh no, where will I put that sentiment? Does anyone else have that problem or is it just me? Maybe it is just bad planning.
I went ahead and finished up the inside, leaving some room for a note if need be. I didn't use a sentiment on the inside since class participants will have a choice of which one to use on the outside. It's been a long time since I've taught a class - should be fun! I hope to have the second card made and posted next weekend.
I am entering this card in the challenge at The Townscrapper which is to make a card with a spring theme - which can include anything to do with warmer weather, outdoor activities etc. I thought this one fit nicely into the challenge. It isn't quite soccer weather yet, but it won't be too long!
Have a great day!
Shanna :)
What I used:
stamp: Changito Kick (I think this is his name) - Stampendous
papers: Three Bugs in a Rug - The Great Outdoors Line
embellishments: Bella bling, machine stitching, Ultra fine Flower Soft - sage
tools: SU Border punch, circle & scallop circle punch

Paper Sundaes Color Challenge!

Happy Sundae!

This week at Paper Sundaes, we are having our first ever Color Challenge! We are challenging you to use the following colors in your creation:

Crystal blue, Hollyhock, Sweet Leaf and White

These are Close to My Heart colors, but you may use any other company so long as they fit the color scheme. Here is my card...

I had fun coloring this cutie from CC Designs and these colors seemed pefect to create a card with a spring feel. I couldn't resist adding Stickles to the eggs in her basket! My card fits the challenge over at Pals Paper Arts where they are looking for spring cards.

I am also entering this one over at Frosted Designs where they are asking us to use our favourite techniques - mine has to be stitching on my cards, and I've done it again on this one! Lately, very few make it to completion it seems with some stitching somewhere. :)

If you play along with us at Paper Sundaes this week, you could win this fun acrylic set from Close to My Heart called "Be Yourself".

Here is a card I made with this set some time ago. This is a fun set to paper-piece with!

Hope you can find time to play along with us! Be sure to visit the rest of the DT members to see what they have created. Their links are on my sidebar.
Have a fantastic day!

Shanna :)

What I used:
stamps: CC Designs, grass & sentiment - CTMH
papers: CTMH Hollyhock, Crystal Blue, Sweet Leaf
embellishments: machine stitching, SU ribbon, prima flower, CTMH button, SU border punch, baby blue Stickles

Best Wishes from Edwin

Happy Saturday! Woo hoo it's the weekend!

Today's card is one I made awhile back and didn't get around to sharing. You may notice the Christmas tree in the backgrouond - I guess you call this one a "bucket card" then - learned that one from you Kelley! I found Kelley's blog recently via Sarah's blog (one of my regular reads) and so glad I did. Both of these girls have talent and fun stuff ! (Stephanie and Caroline - this is the blog I was telling you about that you should check out.) I had been hunting for this Edwin with Guitar stamp from Magnolia for a long time before I finally found it.

This is the card I came up with. I actually based this card on the first ever sketch from Paper Sundaes. Don't forget to visit Paper Sundaes tomorrow to check out our new challenge and check out who won this week's prize. If you haven't played along yet this week - you still have time if you can get into your craft room today...this week's challenge is a fantastic sketch, due by 11:59 pm EST tonight!

So, the funny part about this card... I made this one for my best friend's hubby. I adore the Magnolia stamps and I already knew that Donna wasn't a huge fan. Everyone has different tastes right and that's okay. What I didn't realize is that she actually finds them disturbing/scary, partly due to their lack of mouth. I had no idea about that -so it was kind of funny when her hubby opened his card and her reaction was a chuckle and oh no! I must admit that when I first met Tilda & Edwin I wasn't sure what to make of them, having no mouth and all - but they grew on me and it wasn't long before I was so in love!
So I'm curious - are you loving Tilda & Edwin or not so much?
I had some fun with the inside of this one too - we wrote our names in the "bubbles".
Wishing you a fantastic Saturday! Hubby is planning to take the boys tubing at the local ski hill this afternoon - woo hoo, that means a few hours of quiet and hopefully some time in my scrap space! I have been asked to be a "guest instructor" at my LSS - DATS's, in April and I need to design the cards for my class so that people can come to my blog to check them out when the classes are posted on Tuesday. This afternoon may well be my chance to do that. I also have to get cracking on my son's Birthday invites for later this month.
Cheers,
Shanna :)
p.s. Apparently I am very long winded today! A few of you asked about Donna's scrap room. If she does at some point share photos of her amazing space on her blog (and I have no idea if she plans to do this) - I will definitely let you know and give you a link. Some of us are actually trying to convince her she should submit to a magazine - that's how nice her space is!
What I used:
stamps: Edwin with Guitar
papers: CTMH - old stuff from a promo years ago, still love it though
sentiments: CTMH & Penny Black (inside)
misc: CTMH brads & ribbon, wooden button I picked up in a quilt shop

Aloha! - KLSNS Sketch Challenge

Okay, so obvioiusly I have been on a Basic Grey kick - not on purpose - the papers were just working with the sketches & images I've been wanting to use I guess....and I'm enjoying these fun, bright colors right now.... This is my entry for this week's KLSNS challenge which is a sketch. I had a little fun playing outside my comfort zone. I used a sticker as my main image! Gasp - I have such a hard time using stickers - but of course have tons of them! So, I played around using some of the stickers that came with my Lime Rickey papers and this is what I came up with. I actually did not stamp at all since the sentiment is a rub-on! Bright and cheerful - can't get enough of that this time of year! Everything is Basic Grey except the gingham ribbon and rub ons.

Hope you are all having a great Friday! My boys and I are going to an Open House tonight at my best friend's house (also our LSS owner)- she has been dreaming up the Ultimate Scrap Room for years and she finally has it completed! Tonight is the "unveiling" - should be a fun time!

Hugs,
Shanna

Oakley says Happy Birthday

Happy Thursday! I pulled out of my funk last night and made a card! Hooray! This one is for the challenge at Double Dutch this week - "Boys only". Since I am outnumbered 3 to 1 by boys in my house, it is always good to have some masculine type cards hanging around in the stash. So, I pulled out Oakley and some scraps of Skate Shoppe by Basic Grey and got busy. Yes, Skate Shoppe is very old - I admit that I hoarded it for a long time before I actually cut into it!

I followed the sketch at Taylored Expressions (#102) with some slight alterations. I think maybe it is close enough? It is a great sketch and I know I'll use it again!

Have a great day!

Shanna :)

What I used:
stamps: Oakley scooter - Whiff of Joy
papers: Basic Grey - Skate Shoppe
embellishments: Bella bling, CTMH chocolate ribbon, machine stitching, Su tag punch

Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge - Week #13

Hi everyone,

I am sure in a "funk" this week! Thought I kicked it on Monday with a great day at work, but it came back again yesterday. Though I have not been creating, I do have cards and even a scrapbook layout to share, but just haven't felt like organizing a post! So, tonight I'm trying to pull it together and at least get something posted. It would probably do me a world of good to spend an hour or so in my scrap space once my boys are tucked in - we'll see. The possiblilty is good though since my hubby is at home tonight which is fairly rare with his work schedule. Since he cooked (woo hoo - BBQ steak!), I have to clean up, but if I get my post done quickly enough, I may just get the kitchen cleaned up before it's storytime - which means I may actually get time to craft after bedtime instead of spending all my quiet time cleaning the kitchen and washing dishes. Whew, apparently I am long-winded today!

Today's card is for Sparkle's Christmas Card challenge which is "open" this week. I love this cute image from Imaginisce. I had it for quite awhile before I finally inked it up, but I like it enough that I will probably end up making a few more of these for the Christmas cards stash. I have to admit that my favorite part about making this card was adding the stickles to that adorable heart! I am thrilled to say that I have completed 17 cards so far! I have never EVER been this ahead of the game for Christmas cards. I have not completely kept up with Sparkle's Challenge, but it sure is helping and I have a lot more fun making my Christmas cards this way!

Here's hoping you are all having a great week!
Hugs,
Shanna :)
